]]>As a pediatrician, TikTok user @niky.mamamd saw plenty of cases in which a seemingly small oversight led to tragic consequences. That is why she decided to share some tragedy-preventing safety tips she practices in her own home with her followers.
In a viral video recently posted on social media, @niky.mamamd showed things she does “automatically” in order to create a safe environment for her kids. Also, she advises always cutting the grapes and similarly shaped food before leaving them on the table as they represent a choking hazard.
Other TikTok users praised @niky.mamamd for sharing her tips while also leaving some of their own in the comments section.
“I like putting boiling water in the back burner and as kitchen safety i always announce myself like behind you, bringing hot water to the sink, dishwasher open etc,” one user wrote.
“And never leave a bath with a bit of water,” another added.
After the success of her first video, @niky.mamamd later uploaded a follow-up in which she shared more safety tips that she practices including never leaving anything with strings or chords around, putting away objects with button batteries, and avoiding hanging any types of clothes on the chair.

]]>The post 5 Small Steps That Will Help Your Preschooler Become More Independent appeared first on parentztalk.com.
]]>Most experts agree that kids should be encouraged to be more independent in the preschool period, between the ages of four and six. By this age, they have already developed basic problem-solving and motor skills to handle tasks and make simple decisions on their own. Of course, becoming more independent is a long and complex process that your preschooler shouldn’t be rushed with. Instead, you can help them out with these five small steps.
This might be a tricky task if you let your preschoolers pick out clothes from scratch as they might decide to wear a T-shirt during winter. Instead, create a few combinations and let them pick out one that they like the most.
You should practice this when you are not in a hurry. Show your preschooler how to put on each item of clothing. Then let them try. It might take some practice, but they will eventually figure it out.
There is no need to be super strict about this, but your preschoolers should learn that they need to clean up after themselves. The best way to achieve this is to have them put away their toys after playing.
This will do wonders for your preschooler’s independence. They will also feel a sense of accomplishment when they realize they can get snacks for themselves when they are hungry and something to drink when they are thirsty.
Having preschoolers do simple chores like taking out the garbage or setting up plates will not only help them become more independent but also boost their confidence.

]]>Your kids will be less scared of going to the dentist if you put an effort into finding a kid-friendly doctor, ideally a pediatric dentist, whose gentle approach has the power to ease their anxiety.
It’s highly recommended for your kid to make their first dental visit by the age of one. In addition to helping them keep their dental health in check, early visits will help your child get used to the sight of a dental office at a young age.
Your kid will show more interest in going to the dentist if you take some time to teach them about the importance of oral health and use positive language along the way.
You can make a visit to the dental office more fun by turning it into a game. Play pretend at home and bring some comforting items along when your kid is going to the dentist, such as their favorite book or toy.
Positive reinforcement should be an essential part of each visit to a dentist you make with your kid. Some dentists give out candy as a way of creating a positive association with dental visits, but you should try looking for some other ways to reward their courage – starting with praise.

]]>Pacifier sizes are usually divided by age groups, and it’s important to ensure that the size you choose fits your baby’s age and mouth size.
Pacifiers are usually made from silicone or latex, and you can’t go wrong with these materials. Most parents decide to go with silicone models because they’re durable, easy to clean, and don’t cause irritations as often as latex pacifiers.
Pacifiers come in different shapes, most notably with round and orthodontic teats. Babies that are still being breastfed usually prefer round pacifiers, while orthodontic ones have a flattened bottom and are supposed to prevent dental problems. You can give both a try because it usually comes down to the baby’s preference.
There are many fun pacifier designs on the market, but safety should always come first. Look for one-piece designs that don’t contain any complicated features that can be a potential choking hazard.
No matter what material you end up choosing, look for the BPA-free label to ensure it’s safe for your baby and free from harmful chemicals.
