Parents with young children can never practice enough precautions when it comes to safety. Even the most harmless-looking things and habits can become hazardous under the wrong circumstances.
As a pediatrician, TikTok user @niky.mamamd saw plenty of cases in which a seemingly small oversight led to tragic consequences. That is why she decided to share some tragedy-preventing safety tips she practices in her own home with her followers.
In a viral video recently posted on social media, @niky.mamamd showed things she does “automatically” in order to create a safe environment for her kids. This includes keeping pot/pan handles to the side and keeping hot beverages and soups on the back side of the counter to prevent children from reaching for them and knocking them over.
Also, she advises always cutting the grapes and similarly shaped food before leaving them on the table as they represent a choking hazard.
Other TikTok users praised @niky.mamamd for sharing her tips while also leaving some of their own in the comments section.
“I like putting boiling water in the back burner and as kitchen safety i always announce myself like behind you, bringing hot water to the sink, dishwasher open etc,” one user wrote.
“And never leave a bath with a bit of water,” another added.
After the success of her first video, @niky.mamamd later uploaded a follow-up in which she shared more safety tips that she practices including never leaving anything with strings or chords around, putting away objects with button batteries, and avoiding hanging any types of clothes on the chair.
