We haven’t seen Pride and Prejudice actress Keira Knightley on the big screen in a while, and there is a good reason for that. In a recent interview with The Times, Knightley revealed that she has taken a “major step back” from acting in order to focus on being a mother to nine-year-old Edie and five-year-old Delilah.
According to Knightley, one of the major decisions she made concerning her acting career due to motherhood is that she doesn’t travel abroad for jobs anymore. Knightley lives with her kids and musician husband James Righton in North London.
“It wouldn’t be in any way fair on them, and I wouldn’t want to. I’ve chosen to have children, I want to bring them up, so I’ve had to take a major step back,” Knightley shared.
Additionally, Knightley became pickier about the roles she takes. She is looking for fun projects and doesn’t hesitate to take a break when none come her way.
“I’ve been really surprised in the past few years about what I’ve said no to. I’ve wanted it to be more pure entertainment, and maybe that’s because I’ve needed that,” she added.
Knightley is currently filming a thriller titled The Woman in Cabin 10, which will be her first movie since 2021. Her most recent project was a voice role in this year’s animated series Totally Spies!.
