Over the colder months it can feel harder to come up with ideas of fun family weekends. However, you shouldn’t let the cold, wet weather stop you—there are plenty of great options, whether you decide to wrap up warm and brave the elements, or seek out fun inside.
Head To The Zoo
Most zoos have a good mix of indoor and outdoor attractions, so if you’re dodging rain showers you should be able to find shelter. Whilst it’s true that fewer of the animals will be out and active in their enclosures, you will have better access to those animals which are awake as there will be far fewer visitors around.
Plan A Wildlife Spotting Walk
During winter, there are often interesting migratory birds and other animals which may be harder to spot in summer once the leaves and greenery have returned. Take a wildlife spotting guide, some binoculars and some warm clothes and head out to your nearest green space to see what you can spot.
Make The Most Of Your Museum
Do you have a local museum or art gallery which you tend to neglect or ignore? All too often, the attractions on our doorsteps diet overlooked in favor of those further afield. Make some resolutions to visit and explore all local visitor attractions, to really make the most of your neighborhood and to get outside during the winter months.
Whether you choose to brave the elements in search of some wildlife, or visit a zoo where you know you’ll spot some fantastic creatures, there are many options for fun-filled family days out in winter.
