The Best Way To Get Your Kids To Eat Veggies

It’s a tale as old as time. For whatever reason, children seem to grow up with a strange hatred for all things green. What’s the reason for this, and how can it be combatted? Here’s how to get your children to eat those awesome healthy veggies that we all know and love.

Don’t Treat It Like a Chore

If you want your kids to eat vegetables, stop treating it like something boring and mundane. Kids like doing things that are fun and adventurous, so treat eating vegetables like it’s an exciting game. Encourage them to see broccoli like the tiny little trees we know they are. Inspire them to recognize the different colors of the vegetables, such as the orange carrot or red pepper.

Eat Healthier Yourself

This leads us to our next point, which is that you need to stop putting candy on a pedestal. By that, we mean that it’s not good enough to just say “candy bad, don’t eat it”. If your kids know you’re sneaking off to eat it later, that doesn’t really work. You need to consciously make an effort to eat healthy yourself—yes, you, the parent! You are you child’s biggest role model, and what they see you do is what they’ll want to do. So if you want your kids to eat more veggies, then that should be enough motivation for you to eat healthier as well.
