5 Small Pets to Consider If You’re Not Ready For a Dog

Getting a dog can be a big change for both you and your kids. Fortunately, dogs aren’t the only pets out there your kids will love. Here are five small pets to consider.

Hamsters

Hamsters are a great option if you have limited space. They’re also very easy to care for. All you need to do is set up a cozy cage, and a wheel for exercise, and they’ll happily entertain both themselves and you.

Guinea Pigs

Guinea pigs have a gentle nature and very social behavior, making them excellent companions. They enjoy interacting with their owners and do best in pairs.

Rabbits

Friendly and intelligent, rabbits can be wonderful indoor companions. One thing to note about rabbits is that they do require space to hop around.

Turtles

Your kids will enjoy setting up the aquarium for the turtles and observing their often humorous mannerisms. Research the type of turtle you want to buy ahead of time so that you know how best to set up their living space.

Fish

This is one of the most classic options but no less special. Creating an underwater world with a fish tank can be a relaxing and visually appealing addition to your home.
