Outdoor Games to Teach Your Kids This Summer

Ah, summer! It’s the perfect season to kick off the indoor dust, soak up some sunshine, and get those energetic little bodies moving. From classic games that spark nostalgia to new activities that might just become family favorites, here are a few of our favorites.

Capture the Flag

Divide the kids into two teams, each with a flag or a similar marker at the team’s base. The objective is to capture the other team’s flag and bring it back to your base without getting tagged. It’s perfect for backyard fun or even in a park.

Four Square

This game requires a ball and a large square divided into four smaller squares. Each square has a rank from one to four. Players must bounce the ball to each other, trying not to let the ball bounce more than once in their square.

Frisbee Golf

Set up a course of targets (like laundry baskets or boxes) throughout your yard. Each player takes turns throwing a frisbee toward the target. The player who reaches the target with the fewest throws wins.

Scavenger Hunt

Organize a scavenger hunt by hiding objects around your yard or a local park, and give the kids a list of items to find. Easy and fun!
