Check Out This Easter Cake Which Your Kids Can Make

Easter is a time of year to really celebrate chocolate, so this triple chocolate bake ticks all of the boxes. Even better, your kids can do the majority of the work, so as long as there’s an adult in the kitchen overseeing everything, you will have much less work to do. If you can’t find mini chocolate eggs, chocolate shavings or chips can also work well. Don’t forget to allow enough time for the cake to set in the fridge, or it will crumble apart when you try to slice it.

Ingredients (to make 12 mini cakes or 1 large one):

  • 1 cup of dark chocolate
  • 1 cup of milk chocolate
  • 1 3/4 cups of unsalted butter
  • 2 cups of cornflakes, Rice Krispies, or a similar cereal
  • 4 tablespoons of golden syrup
  • Mini chocolate eggs for decoration

Instructions:

  1. Melt the butter in a pan over a medium heat.
  2. Add the milk and dark chocolate to the pan, and stir continuously as the chocolate melts.
  3. Add the cereal to the pan, stir well to combine everything, and coat the cereal.
  4. Stir in the golden syrup, and stir well to combine everything.
  5. Remove the pan from the heat, and pour the cake mix into one large, lined cake tin, or into cupcake cases.
  6. Place the cake or tray of cupcakes into the fridge and allow to set for at least two hours.
  7. Once the cake has cooled, decorate with mini chocolate eggs (and any other chocolate that takes your fancy!).
