Advice for Dating as a Single Parent

If you’re a single parent who wants to go on some dates, then this may well be a confusing and complicated situation to navigate. However it is perfectly possible to make it all work, and here’s some advice to help.

Don’t Feel Guilty

It can be so easy to feel a sense of guilt when getting back into dating as a single parent. Whether you feel it’s going to impact your children, or if there’s some sense of owing something to your ex-partner. But simply going on some dates and taking some time for yourself is nothing to feel guilty about.

Talk to Your Kids

How much detail you want to give is entirely up to you, but having some open communication about this will help them understand it better and will make the whole situation a lot easier for everyone.

Don’t Settle

You may be worrying that as a single parent, you’ll struggle to find someone who won’t be put off dating someone with kids. And it’s true that this may be a dealbreaker for some people. However, there will be people out there who aren’t phased at all and who will enjoy getting to know your family.
