Zoe Saldaña Opens Up About Sharing Domestic Workload in a Marriage

The way couples share the workload in marriage makes all the difference, and Zoe Saldaña and her husband Marco Perego managed to find the perfect balance. The Avatar star revealed they’re constantly adjusting and readjusting as working parents when it comes to taking care of their children and the household.

Saldaña told People they’re approaching domestic responsibilities with the “today for you, tomorrow for me” attitude. The actress said there’s no “even share of the load” in their household because they’re usually busy at different times, leaving it for the other to take over.

“Certain seasons, I’m the one that may be taking over all of the domestic operations so that my husband can mentally break away and focus on his creativity. And other seasons when I go completely back into work mode, then we’re switching off,” said Saldaña.

Saldaña married Italian artist Marco Perego in 2013, and they have three sons together: eight-year-old twin boys Cy and Bowie and six-year-old Zen. She previously revealed that they’re raising their boys with no gender-specific roles, saying it’s “very important” they get in touch with their feminine side and honor their feelings. The couple is also raising them to be multilingual from a young age, and they speak Spanish, Italian, and English in their household.
