Tia Mowry Shares Empowering Video About the Beauty of Being an “Imperfect Mom”

Motherhood comes with its own set of challenges, and no matter how hard you’re doing to do everything perfectly—it’s never enough. Actress Tia Mowry experienced this after giving birth to two children, but she’s now fully embracing the beauty of being an “imperfect mom”.

The Sister, Sister star recently took to social media to share a hilarious and empowering video about the downfalls of seeking perfection as a parent. The video sees her screaming, “You don’t have to be perfect to be a good mom,” and she goes on to tell all her fellow moms out there that it’s okay to feel overwhelmed and take a break.

Mowry’s caption is just as insightful, and she kicks it off by writing no one can prepare you for motherhood, before explaining that it’s okay to make mistakes because you’re just a person.

“The more we, as moms, strive for perfection, the more frustrated we become because it’s an unreachable goal. Keeping open lines of communication with my children is how I have cultivated a home that values honoring your feelings, talking it out, and problem-solving as a family, not perfection,” she wrote on Instagram.

Mowry has a daughter Cairo, 5, and a son Cree, 11, with fellow actor Cory Hardrict, and they officially finalized their divorce after 15 years of marriage earlier this year.
