This Mom is Letting Her 13-Year-Old Take “Mental Health Days “Off From School

Most parents will only let their kids skip school when they are sick. But TikToker Tiffany Turner-Moon is taking a different approach. Turner-Moon will allow her 13-year-old daughter to take “mental health days” off from school.

The TikToker detailed her approach in a recent viral video posted on her social media. In the video, Turner-Moon explains that when her daughter wakes up in the morning and is “not feeling it,” she will allow her to skip school.

During the 13-year-old’s day off from school, her mom will try to organize some activities that will “boost her serotonin.” This can include going on a lunch date or a visit to fashion retailer Target.

“My hope is by doing this, she will learn to prioritize mental health early on, and when she’s adult, she’ll take these days for herself when needed,” Turner-Moon explains in the video.

Turner-Moon’s video quickly spread across social media, getting more than 2.3 million views and attracting thousands of comments. Other TikTok users were impressed by this and absolutely loved the idea.

“You are an amazing mother I wish my mom and dad would be more like this. Mental health is not only important, but preparing your kid for the real world,” one TikTok user wrote.

“I never get anything like this I wanna be this kind of mom,” another one added.
