As exciting as it can be to have a new baby on the way, there are other things that can distract you from the main event. For instance, it’s quite common for people to get super caught up with the topic of gender. The aforementioned “main event”, however, is having the actual baby, while gender talks should be relegated to a side discussion. And yet, so many people expend so much energy on gender talk, and here’s why we believe you certainly shouldn’t.
You Can’t Control It
There’s no sense in getting all worked up about something that you have virtually no control over. Sure, there are some goofy theories out there that suggest you can control what gender you’ll have by taking certain actions, but we don’t really subscribe to any of that. You should have the mindset that any child that comes is a gift, and not let gender get in the way.
A Healthy Baby
To further instill this point, the only thing you should really care about is having a healthy baby. You would obviously rather have a healthy baby who isn’t the gender you preferred instead of a less healthy baby who is the gender you preferred—so you might as well put your energy towards hoping for a healthy child, bar none.
You Don’t Want To Harbor Resentment
You also don’t want to get to a point where you start to harbor resentment over not getting the gender you wanted. It’s a bit of a cliche, but there are all kinds of stories of parents who raised their children as if they were another gender, and this isn’t healthy. So just relax, hope for a healthy baby, and love them for exactly who they are.
