Sarah Jessica Parker Opens Up About Teaching Her Children the Value of Money

With an estimated net worth of $200 million, Sarah Jessica Parker pretty much set her kids for life, but she doesn’t really see it that way. The S-x and the City star believes that it’s important to teach your kids the value of money and how hard it can be to earn it.

Parker discussed her parenting approach during an appearance on iHeartRadio’s Table for Two with Bruce Bozzi. She explained that she has the same philosophy as Dolly Parton – taking care of her child’s needs without spoiling them and giving them everything they want.

“I think it’s a great way of living for children, that their needs are met — to be fed, safe and loved… But they should pine for things, they should want things. And we should also be interested in, how do they contribute to the things, at a certain point?” she explained.

Parker also added that she wants her children to understand what it means to earn money, so they would know they’ll face these same expectations later in life, once it’s time to earn their own living.

Parker has been married to Matthew Broderick since 1997, and they have three children together – the 20-year-old son James Wilkie and twin daughters Tabitha Hodge and Marion Loretta Elwell, who are 13.
