Retired tennis star Ash Barty, who has three Grand Slams on her resume, recently shared that she welcomed her first child, a baby boy named Hayden.
Barty and her husband Garry Kissick both shared an adorable photo of the newborn while writing, “Our beautiful boy. Welcome to the world, Hayden!” in the caption.
The tennis world rushed to congratulate Barty on expanding her family in the comments section. Official Instagram profiles of all four Grand Slams – Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and US Open – sent their congrats, as well as tennis stars like Angelique Kerber, Victoria Azarenka, and Caroline Wozniacki.
Barty and Kissick, an Australian professional golfer, started dating in 2017. They have announced their engagements in 2021 and got married last summer.
Several months before marrying Kissick, Barty decided to walk away from tennis at the age of 25. She became only the second player after Justine Henin to retire from professional tennis while being the No. 1 ranked player in the world.
Since retiring, Barty kept a low profile for a while before taking a “chief of inspiration” with Australian company Optus. She will now also have her hands full with Hayden, so it is safe to say that she will be all but bored in retirement.
