Most parents debate how long they should wait until letting their kids join social media, and Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves just made their choice. They decided to surprise their son Levi on his 15th birthday by allowing him to open accounts on TikTok and Instagram.
McConaughey and Alves shared a sweet video congratulating Levi for turning 15, and his mom admitted he’s a little bit nervous about one of the gifts they’re giving him. The couple went on to reveal they’re letting Levi join social media after preparing for this moment for a long time.
McConaughey said they finally felt that the time is right this year because Levi knows who he is and where he’s going, so they’re certain he can handle this responsibility.
“I want to let all of y’all know you’re getting a very cool and respectful young man, Levi McConaughey coming at you, and I hope you can all do your best to treat him the same way. Levi, enjoy the adventure, sharing your story and expressing yourself,” said the Oscar-winning star in the video.
McConaughey and Alves tied the knot in 2012 after six years of dating, and they have two more children together – 10-year-old Livingston and 13-year-old Vida.
