We are well and truly entering cold season, and if you have kids at school the chances are they will be bringing back some viruses and bugs over the winter. While no food can completely stop or cure colds, you can boost you and your family’s immunity by eating a wide range of vitamins and minerals. Get a health boost from these colorful smoothies—better yet, get the kids to help you make them!
Mango, Cherry and Yogurt
Ingredients (to serve 4):
- 1 cup of fresh or frozen mango pieces
- 1/2 cup of fresh or frozen pitted cherries
- 2 cups of milk (dairy or plant-based)
- 1 cup of natural yogurt (or vegan alternative)
- 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 2 bananas
Instructions:
- Place all of the ingredients in a food processor and blitz until smooth.
- If your food processor is small, start by blending the frozen fruit with the milk, and then decanting that into glasses before blitzing the rest of the ingredients.
Kiwi, Peach, and Cocoa
Ingredients (to serve 4):
- 4 kiwi fruit, peeled
- 1 tin of peaches
- 2 teaspoons of cocoa powder
- 1 cup of natural yogurt
- 2 cups of milk
- 3 bananas
- 1 tablespoon of peanut butter
Instructions:
- Blitz all of the ingredients until smooth in a food processor. Add more peanut butter to taste, if you wish.
