Kim Kardashian Opens Up About Explaining Her Divorce to Her Kids

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West officially went their separate ways last year, and their split was quite an adjustment for her whole family. The SKIMS founder recently opened up about her divorce and the talk she had with her children after separating from West.

Kardashian and West tied the knot in 2014, after two years of dating, and welcomed four children together. North was born in 2013, followed by Saint in 2015, while Chicago and Psalm were both born via surrogate in 2018 and 2019, respectively.

Kardashian filed for divorce in 2021, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their separation, and officially reached a divorce settlement with West in late 2022. Explaining their split to their four children was the most difficult part of the whole ordeal, and Kardashian’s priority was to make sure her kids feel loved and heard.

“You want to be sensitive because they’re just kids, and it’s hard to go through no matter what age. You have to make sure that you only go to a level that they can understand. It’s okay to show a vulnerable side. You never go to a negative side,” she recently told GQ.

Kardashian was around the same age that North was when her parents Robert Kardashian and Kris Jenner divorced, and she tried to approach her separation the same way they did. She told GQ they handled things by “being open” and admitted she didn’t see it coming because they never fought in front of the kids.
