New moms often deal with the pressure to go back to their “old body”, but Jessie J doesn’t seem to be too concerned about it. She kept it 100% real in one of her recent Instagram stories and said her priority isn’t to go back but forward after giving birth.
The British singer recently gave birth to her first child with basketball player Chanan Colman – son Sky Safir Cornish Colman. She welcomed her baby boy via C-section and stayed honest and open about her experience, in the hope other women who missed out on natural birth will feel seen and heard in the face of the stigma they often face.
After keeping it 100% real about her C-section, Jessie J embrace a similar approach when it came to her postpartum journey. The singer admitted that people often tell her, “I bet you can’t wait to get your body back,” but she always replies with, “I don’t want to go back. That body is gone. I want my body to go forward. I’m getting my body forward.”
If you’re struggling with body image after giving birth, let Jessie J’s empowering message remind you to embrace your own post-partum journey and cherish the miraculous experience your body went through, instead of pressuring yourself to look the same way you did before giving birth.
