Hilary Swank Opens Up About Becoming a Mom Later in Life

Hilary Swank welcomed her twins on the verge of turning 50—and they couldn’t have come at a better time. The two-time Oscar winner recently opened up about becoming a mother at an older age, and said it was a right choice because she can “give differently now.”

The 50-year-old actress shares twins Aya and Ohm with her husband, Philip Schneider, and they were born in April last year. She was 47 when she got pregnant with them, and the news couldn’t have come at a better time, because she didn’t feel ready to have children in her 20s and 30s since she was too focused on her career.

She finally started considering motherhood during her 40s, even before she had a partner, but Schneider eventually walked into her life. She got pregnant at 47, and it felt like perfect timing because she “can give differently” at this stage of her life.

“I feel like I have a lot more patience, and I’ve done a lot of my own personal work to be the type of mother I want to be, whereas it would’ve just been different in my twenties and thirties. I don’t think I would’ve had the patience and the grace that I hopefully can bestow a little bit more [of] now,” she told People.
