Here’s Why You Should Let Your Kids Stay Up to See in the New Year

As a parent of young children, the thought of them staying up until midnight might seem like a recipe for disaster. They’ll probably become very overexcited, and then waking them up the next day might cause some grumbling and grogginess. But this midnight celebration only comes around once a year, so letting them stay up to celebrate is worth any stress it may cause.

They Will Find it Super Exciting

For good reason, many young children’s bedtimes are before 9 p.m. Being allowed to stay up with the grown-ups way past usual bedtime will feel like a treat and will help them to appreciate the significance of the year ending and the new one beginning.

It’s Great to Include Them in the Celebration

The countdown to midnight on New Year’s Eve is a special occasion for many. This significant turning of the year is a time to spread joy and cheer, and so having your precious children involved only feels right.

You Don’t Have to Worry About Waking Them Up

It’s difficult when you’re all feeling merry and joyful to remember to keep quiet for the kids. But if they’re with you taking part in all the celebrations then this concern can be forgotten.
