It’s awesome to see parents and their kids do creative things together and work on different projects. For example, Academy Award-nominated actor Ethan Hawke and his daughter Maya Hawke recently teamed up to record and release a song together.
The dad-daughter duo decided to cover country legend Willie Nelson’s track “We Don’t Run” as part of the upcoming compilation Light in the Attic & Friends.
“This song is off Willie Nelson’s brilliant album Spirit, which has been a mainstay in our home since it was released in 1996. Everybody needs a good anthem song. This is one of the best,” Ethan said about the track.
Maya announced the project on her social media, posting an old photo from her childhood alongside her dad.
“Thank you so much @lightintheatticrecords for inviting me and my dad to cover one of our favorite Willie Nelson songs as part of their collection, “Light in the Attic & Friends,” Maya wrote in the caption.
Maya Hawke is the oldest child of Ethan Hawke and Kill Bill star Uma Thurman. Maya started as a model but, unsurprisingly, later decided to venture into acting. She has since taken part in a number of high-profile projects, including Netflix’s hit series Stranger Things and Wes Anderson’s most recent movie Asteroid City.
