Disneyland and Disney World are two of the most popular theme parks in the world. But they’re also not the same. If you’re wondering where to go, here’s a quick guide to help you out.
Size
Located in Orlando, Florida, Disney World is vast, spanning approximately 43 square miles—roughly the size of San Francisco. It comprises four theme parks: Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom, along with two water parks.
California’s Disneyland, on the other hand, is much smaller. It has two theme parks: the original Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure.
Attractions
With its four theme parks, Disney World offers a wider variety of attractions and experiences. It’s known for iconic rides like Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and the new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
But Disneyland is where it all began. It’s the only park built under the direct supervision of Walt Disney himself. While it has fewer attractions than Disney World, it has many classic rides and experiences that have been delighting visitors since 1955.
Accommodation and Cost
Disney World has over 25 themed resort hotels, with lots to choose from. Disneyland has fewer on-site options, but there are numerous hotels and motels nearby. A Disneyland vacation might be more budget-friendly, particularly for shorter stays.
