Cameron Diaz Explains How Motherhood Changed Her Perspective on Acting

Cameron Diaz finally made her Hollywood comeback after ten years, and her perspective on acting was much different this time around. Back in Action is the first film she made since becoming a mother, and parenthood helped her gain a “different perspective” on being an actor.

Diaz tied the knot with the musician Benji Madden in 2015, and they share two children together – daughter Raddix and son Cardinal, both born via surrogacy. Diaz took a break from acting years before Raddix was born in 2019, and going back on set hasn’t been an easy decision because her perspective on life significantly changed in the meantime.

“You’re a different person after you have children, after marriage, after building a life. So me, I never made a movie before with family… There’s a lot more happening in my world that allows me [to have] a different perspective on life,” Diaz told People at the Back in Action premiere.

Diaz is hoping her kids will think she’s “cool” after seeing her new movie because it’s one of those small fantasies every parent has. She landed several more roles since this action comedy wrapped production, including Jonah Hill’s black comedy Outcome and the fifth film in the Shrek franchise.
