Best and Tastiest Ice Cream Alternatives for Kids

Kids love ice cream and can you really blame them? It is refreshing, tasty, and the perfect treat for the summer. So, good luck explaining to them that eating ice cream all the time is unhealthy. What you can do is present them with some healthier alternatives that are still on the tasty side.

Frozen Banana Cream

Peel a few bananas and freeze them. Place them in a blender and blend until you get a smooth cream. Additionally, you can top it with some crushed nuts. Your kids will love it and might not even realize it’s not ice cream.

Berry Ice Pops

Take one cup of frozen blueberries, raspberries, or strawberries and mix them in a blender with lemon or orange juice and water. Place them in ice pop molds, freeze them, and hand these berry ice pops to your kid whenever they ask for an ice cream.

Yogurt Popsicles

If your kid isn’t keen on berry ice pops, turn to yogurt popsicles. The basic recipe calls for a mix of frozen berries, Greek Yogurt, and a dash of honey, which you blend in a blender and freeze in plastic cups or ice pop molds. It isn’t as healthy alternative as those mentioned above but is still a better option compared to ice cream and you can always mix and match different ingredients.

Frozen Pudding

This is probably the simplest of all ice cream alternatives. Simply take pudding cups and pop them in a freezer for frozen pudding. Since some puddings can be high in sugar, opt for a sugar-free version.
