Angelina Jolie Explains How Her Six Kids Saved Her Life

Angelina Jolie is a proud mother of six children, and her life would’ve been much different if she didn’t have them around. The Oscar-winning actress opened up about her relationship with her six kids in a recent interview with Vogue and said her world would’ve been much darker without them.

Jolie reflected on becoming a mom at 26 in a recent Vogue digital cover story. She explained that her entire life changed after she discovered motherhood because having children saved her and taught her to be in this world differently.

“I think, recently, I would’ve gone under in a much darker way had I not wanted to live for them. They’re better than me because you want your children to be. Of course, I’m the mother, and hopefully that safe place for them and that stability,” explained Jolie.

Jolie adopted her first child Maddox in 2002, followed by Zahara in 2005 and Pax in 2007. The actress also has three biological children with her ex-husband Brad Pitt – the 17-year-old Shiloh and the 15-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.

Jolie’s kids came out to support her during several movie premieres, but the actress told Vogue that “nobody has to go anywhere if they don’t want to.” She also revealed that she never tells them what to wear or forces them to dress up for these events because she wants them to be “their own people.”
