Seat selection became somewhat of a luxury in recent years, and sitting with your family on a plane isn’t always guaranteed. Luckily, there are still certain steps you can take to increase your chances of sitting together as a family during your next flight.
Early Bird
The earlier you book your flight, the more free seats you’ll have at your disposal. Act fast if you want everyone to sit next to each other while there are still enough seating options available.
Pay Extra
Some airlines still offer complimentary seat selection, but the list is getting shorter as time goes by. You should be ready to pay extra to pick your seats with certain carrier, especially when you’re flying with low-cost airlines.
Customer Service
If you failed to secure seats together during your booking, you can always try contacting customer service and making arrangements to accommodate your family during your flight.
Airport Help
If the customer service wasn’t of much help, consider arriving at the airport a little bit earlier so you could explain your problem to the airline staff and try requesting seats together.
Swap Your Seats
When everything else fails, asking fellow passengers to switch seats with you is always an option, but be ready to take no for an answer, especially if some of them paid extra for window seats.
