Kids can work up quite an appetite after a long day at school. Instead of resorting to the easy junk food option, here are a few easy recipes that are both nutritious and delicious.

 

Celery Snails & Caterpillars

These adorable snacks take ants on a log to the next level.

Make the Snails: Fill celery stalks with peanut butter or cream cheese and top with an apple, orange, kiwi, cucumber or tomato slice shell and a cashew head. Use peanut butter or cream cheese to glue on candy eyes.

Make the Caterpillars: Fill celery stalks with peanut butter or cream cheese and top with grapes, blueberries or grape tomatoes for the body and head. Use peanut butter or cream cheese to glue on candy eyes and celery or radish matchstick for antennae.

Chocolate-Dipped Clementines

These dipped orange segments hit all the sweet and salty notes you crave.

Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

Melt the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl on high power in 20-second increments until melted and smooth, about 1 minute.

Dip half of each clementine segment into the chocolate, shaking off any excess, and transfer to the prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle with a pinch of salt, then refrigerate until the chocolate hardens, about 10 minutes.

On-the-go munchies with lots of crunch and a spicy kick.

Heat oven to 400 degrees F. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with foil.

Place the noodles and pepitas on the baking sheet and toss with the oil, cinnamon, and cayenne to evenly coat. Spread in a single layer and bake until lightly toasted, 5 to 7 minutes. Transfer to a large bowl and let cool.

Add the cranberries, chocolate chips and pistachios and toss to combine.
