Parents always try to provide their child with enough attention and make them feel loved all the time. However, children ocassionally need even more than that and it is up for parents to recognize that and adress it promptly.
While children will rarely communicate their desire for more attention openly, they will provide you with signs that will make it obvious.
Misbehavior
When children need more attention, they will try to get it in any way possible. This will usually include change of behavior to worse like tantrums and misbehavior. In this instance, they will be getting negative attention, but even that will do it for them.
Poor Communication Etiquette
Children might start interrupting you while you talk or communicate by yelling. This means they are probably feeling ignored.
Withdrawal
If you notice that your child is becoming withdrawn, that is usually a good sign that they need more attention. This will likely include avoiding spending time with the rest of the family, losing interest in activities, and limiting their communication to short answers.
Neediness
Your kid wanting to spend all of their time with you, following you everywhere, and always asking for help is also a good indication of a desire for more attention. By displaying this behavior and staying close, they are unintentionally trying to “force” you to pay attention to them.
