Most kids have at least one school subject that gives them trouble—and the subject in question often happens to be math. If your little one finds math difficult and overwhelming, we’re here with some strategies you can use to make it more interesting and approachable.
Fun Approach
If your kid is struggling with their math homework and assignments, try to turn them into a game. It’s pretty easy to make math fun during the lower grades, and you can use everything from arts and crafts to board games and apps to turn math into a fun adventure and change the way your kids look at it.
Everyday Life
You can also change your kids’ mindset about math by showing them how useful it can be once you become an adult. Use every chance you get to demonstrate the value of math in everyday life, especially when doing activities that they enjoy participating in, such as shopping and cooking.
Positive Outlook
It’s easier to help your kids develop a positive outlook on math if they see you feel the same way about it. Lead by example and try to act enthusiastic when you’re solving math problems together. Avoid saying negative things about math so they wouldn’t embrace the same attitude.
