3 Things to Avoid When Getting Your Children Ready for School

Getting your kids ready for school can be hectic and stressful, and it’s easy to project some of this stress onto your children. Here are three things to try and avoid when doing the morning school run.

Driving Faster to Get There on Time

This can be very tempting as it is important for your kids to not be late for school. However, driving faster can actually end up slowing you down if you are not being a considerate road user and try to rush into gaps. Either way, it will definitely increase the stress of the situation and is best avoided.

Allowing Them to Skip Breakfast to Save Time

Breakfast is perhaps the most important meal of the day, especially for young children, but it can be tempting to skip breakfast in the process of getting your kids to school on time. Encourage your child to eat breakfast and make more time by getting up earlier or showering the night before.

Dropping Your Kids Off While Angry or Stressed

This one can be particularly hard to achieve as it can be a stressful process, but try not to leave your kids whilst feeling angry or stressed towards them. School can be tiring and challenging enough without your kids feeling that they have somehow contributed to your feelings of anger or stress. Make a real effort to de-escalate any stress or anger before sending your kids to school and they will have a better start to their school day.
