Earbuds are the new trendy way of listening to music, and it isn’t hard to see why. They are convenient, durable, and produce quality sound. Still, this doesn’t mean they are suitable for kids, especially younger ones.
If your kid wants to use earbuds, you should think twice before letting them. Here is why.
Earbuds Can Damage Hearing
All types of headphones are known to damage hearing, especially if used on high volume. However, the danger is arguably even greater with earbuds since they rest in the ear canal. Because of this, they produce louder sound effects at the same volume. This is particularly dangerous for kids as their ear canal isn’t fully developed.
Earbuds are Choking Hazard
Due to their size, earbuds represent a choking hazard. They should be kept away from younger children, as they could swallow them by accident or out of curiosity.
Earbuds Are Easy to Lose
Finally, earbuds are easy to lose or misplace, and kids are not exactly known for being overly careful with their belongings. If you don’t want to buy new ones over and over again, help your kid pick out something else that is better suitable for them, like noise-canceling headphones.
