3 Ideas for an At-Home Date Night

With all the best intentions in the world, sometimes unforeseen circumstances or commitments mean that you can’t always stick to having a date night with your partner. However, date nights are really important, especially if you have kids. They give you time and space to really talk and reconnect, away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. If your child’s feeling poorly or your babysitter’s canceled and you’re not able to head out to a nice restaurant, check out these ideas for a simple at home date night so you can still check in with your partner.

Dance

You may not be able to get out to a dance floor, but why not bring the party to your kitchen or living room? Simply put on a playlist of some of your favorite songs and dance with your partner. You can take it seriously or dance like nobody’s watching, and if the kids want to come and join in then that will only increase the fun!

Solve A Puzzle

Whether you opt for a board game, a jigsaw puzzle or a card game, playing games and solving puzzles together can be great fun and strengthen your bond. If your kids need you, you can easily pause the game to go and check on them, and if the game is taking a long time to finish then you can set it aside until your next date night.

Cook Together

Cooking a meal together is a great way to collaborate and communicate. As long as neither of you gets bossy in the kitchen, you can have fun experimenting with new ingredients and following a new recipe. Of course, you will also get to enjoy all of your hard work in the shape of a (hopefully delicious) meal. This date night idea also doesn’t take up too much time, and if one of you needs to check on the kids then that’s easily done.
