]]>The real best way to convince your children to eat veggies is to do it yourself. But don’t just fake it—actually eat your veggies, and enjoy it as well. Your kids want to be like you, so if you convince them that you like it, they will want to like it too.
You should also be telling them how good veggies are for them. Explain that it’s helping them grow up to be big and strong, and how that’s one of the reasons you love eating it so much yourself.
This wouldn’t be our first choice to recommend, but nevertheless, it can be effective when you have no other option. Simply offer them a reward if they eat their veggies, such as a fun dessert or an extra 20 minutes on the television. Again, not our first choice, but a good idea to have in your back pocket.

Kids like doing things that are fun and adventurous, so treat eating vegetables like it’s an exciting game. Encourage them to see broccoli like the tiny little trees we know they are. Inspire them to recognize the different colors of the vegetables, such as the orange carrot or red pepper.
This leads us to our next point, which is that you need to stop putting candy on a pedestal. By that, we mean that it’s not good enough to just say “candy bad, don’t eat it”. If your kids know you’re sneaking off to eat it later, that doesn’t really work. You need to consciously make an effort to eat healthy yourself—yes, you, the parent! You are you child’s biggest role model, and what they see you do is what they’ll want to do. So if you want your kids to eat more veggies, then that should be enough motivation for you to eat healthier as well.
