Entering into the digital age, parenting styles appear to be continuously evolving. Hence, the emergence of a new concept called a “Venmo mom”. Here’s what Venmo mom is and whether or not becoming one is a good parenting trait.

Just like the name suggests, Venmo moms rely on payment platforms to get things done. Rather than volunteering at their kids’ schools or extra-curricular activities, Venmo moms generally prefer to send money to support different initiatives rather than showing up and getting their hands dirty. While some traditional parents may not be supportive of this kind of parental approach, it does have its upsides.

For example, while Venmo moms may not have hands-on involvement in parent-teacher associations and other organizations, however, with their spare time, they’re able to take on other duties instead. This could include checking on your kids’ homework, cooking, and tidying the house. It’s also important to foster a strong relationship between spouses and getting too deep into external activities could get in the way of this.

“Parents are doing everything they can and oftentimes wearing so many hats and playing so many roles daily. So, they have to pick and choose what things they have the capacity for. We all know we can’t do it all,” parenting expert Reena Patel explained. So, whether or not you become a Venmo mom, you could become a great, supportive parent.

Sometimes, when kids make bad decisions, they have a hard time accepting that there are consequences for them. But while it is important for them to learn this as it will do them good later in life, parents need to do their best to offer them support and help them navigate through these moments.

Digital creator and licensed therapist Kier Gaines recently shared a heartwarming video in which he is calming down his upset daughter in the most loving way possible. As it turns out, Gaines’ daughter “made a decision that lost her a fun privilege” and “took it pretty hard.”

In the video, Gaines can be heard telling his daughter that bad decisions don’t make her a bad person and that bad decisions can be a learning opportunity.

After his daughter tells him she is “still mad” at herself, Gaines acknowledges her feelings and offers more encouragement. He says she is doing a “good job” in learning “hard lessons” about growing up and that “it is not the end of the world.”

“I’m becoming a fan of allowing my kids to go through and process tough emotions without swooping in to save them necessarily. Just provide a little guidance, reassurance, and love,” Gaines shared in the caption of the video which got millions of views since being posted back in April.

Check out Gaines’ heartwarming interaction with his daughter below.

Allowing your child to stay up late occasionally can be a subject of debate among parents. While a consistent sleep routine is important for a child’s well-being, there are situations where it’s okay to bend the rules and let them stay up later. Here are some reasons why occasional late nights can be acceptable.

Special Occasions and Celebrations

Birthdays, holidays, or family gatherings often involve staying up late to enjoy the festivities. Allowing your child to be part of these special moments and create lasting memories can be a valuable experience.

Quality Family Time

Sometimes, late nights are an opportunity for meaningful family bonding. Whether it’s watching a movie together, stargazing, or engaging in fun activities, these moments can strengthen family connections.

Cultural Events

Attending concerts, theater performances, or cultural events may require staying up late. Exposing your child to different forms of art and expanding their horizons can be enriching and educational.

Teaching Responsibility

Allowing your child to occasionally stay up late can teach them responsibility and self-regulation. They learn to manage their time, prioritize tasks, and make choices about rest and relaxation.

However, it’s important to strike a balance. Late nights should be exceptions rather than the norm. Consistency in sleep routines is crucial for children’s growth and development. Regular and adequate sleep is essential for their physical and mental well-being.

Forcing your child to participate in specific extracurricular activities may seem tempting, especially if you have certain aspirations or interests in mind. However, it’s important to consider your child’s individual preferences, strengths, and interests when making these decisions. Here are three reasons why you shouldn’t force your child to do certain extracurriculars.

Respecting Individuality

Each child has unique talents and passions. Forcing them into activities they don’t enjoy can lead to resentment, demotivation, and a negative attitude towards learning. It’s essential to respect their individuality and allow them the freedom to explore and choose activities that align with their interests and talents.

Nurturing Intrinsic Motivation

Genuine motivation and enthusiasm come from within. When children are forced into extracurriculars, they may develop a superficial interest driven by external pressure rather than a true passion. By allowing them to choose activities they genuinely enjoy, they are more likely to develop intrinsic motivation, dedication, and a sense of ownership over their pursuits.

Promoting Well-Being

Overloading a child with multiple extracurricular activities can lead to physical and mental exhaustion, stress, and a lack of balance in their lives. It’s important to prioritize their well-being by allowing them to have free time for relaxation and self-discovery. By giving them the space to recharge and explore their own interests, you are fostering a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
