There will always be a debate among parents about the appropriate age to introduce kids to household chores. Some parents argue that the kids should start doing them as early as possible since it teaches responsibility and helps their development, while others believe a more lenient approach is appropriate.

Instagram user Deb, who often shares tips and tricks for moms on social media, definitely belongs to the former camp. She recently shared a cool hack that helps her toddler fold their laundry while turning the activity into a fun game.

In a viral video that received 85 million views, Deb demonstrated a DIY device for folding laundry. She taped four pieces of cardboard together and marked them with distinctly-colored numbers to make a folding device.

The clip sees her toddler placing a shirt on the device, activating the flaps according to their numbers and ending up with a neatly folded shirt.

“MOM HACK: to get your toddler to fold their laundry … Get your little one involved to make it fun,” Deb wrote in the caption of the video.

Deb’s “mom hack” drew different reactions from social media users. While some were critical of including a kid in household chores so early, many others were full of praise.

“This is the age when kids want to help and be involved. if you wait and teach them that they aren’t involved in household life it will be much harder to teach them the responsibility when they’re older,” one Instagram user wrote.

“Gross motor, counting, and life skills all in one go. You go momma!” another added.

Get ready to turn your living room into a winter wonderland with this simple and fun holiday craft—paper snowflakes! It’s the perfect activity to get kids excited about the season while creating beautiful holiday decorations. Whether you hang them on windows, string them up as garlands, or paste them onto holiday cards, making paper snowflakes is a great way to enjoy some cozy and crafty family fun. This activity is suitable for ages five and up. Be sure to use safety scissors to keep those little fingers safe.

You Will Need:

  • White paper (construction paper works best)
  • A cup to draw around
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • A flat surface for cutting

Instructions:

  1. Draw around your cup to create a circle shape and cut it out.
  2. Fold the circle in half diagonally to create a semi-circle. Then fold it in half again to form a triangle and then again to form a smaller triangle.
  3. Now for the fun part—cutting! Use scissors to snip small shapes along the edges of your folded triangle. Try triangles, half circles, or zigzags, but make sure not to cut all the way across. The more cuts you make, the more intricate your snowflake will be.
  4. Carefully unfold your snowflake, and voilà! You now have a beautiful, unique snowflake ready to display. Try making several for a fun wintery display.

Bunk beds are a great solution for children’s rooms with limited space, and parents have been swearing by them for years. If you’re considering buying a bunk bed for your little ones, here are a few things you should keep in mind when going bunk bed shopping.

Right Size

Size is the first thing you should take into consideration when picking a bunk bed. You’ll want it to perfectly fit into your children’s room, while also being age-appropriate and leaving room for growth.

Comfort Comes First

Comfort is another major factor worth considering when buying bunk beds. The one you choose should be made with a sturdy material that won’t creek under your child’s weight. Take some time to pick mattresses that perfectly fit the bed in question, while also providing ultimate comfort for your little ones.

Safety Features

The bed you choose should also have all the necessary safety features in place, from sturdy guardrails to a ladder or staircase that your children can climb with ease.

Storage Options

If you see a bunk bed as a space-saving solution because your kids’ room is pretty small, try looking for one that comes with built-in storage options, such as drawers under the bottom bunk or shelves along the side.

Your kids will spend a third of their day sleeping, so it’s important that their bedding feels comfy, cozy, and fun. There are several factors you should consider when picking bedsheets for your little ones, and we’re here with a brief shopping guide that will help you make the best possible choice.

Right Fabric

Fabric is the most important factor worth considering when buying bedding, and you’ll want it to be light, breathable, and comfortable enough. Organic cotton is the best possible option, while synthetic materials are best avoided. Flannel or fleece sheets are a popular option for colder months, but you can also stick to the regular cotton sheets and use a thicker blanket.

Perfect Dimensions

Bedsheets that don’t fit your child’s bed properly will be pretty much useless. Before buying anything, take a moment to measure their mattress and the rest of the bedding to make sure the sheets fit everything properly.

Fun Designs

You’ll have many designs to choose from when picking bedsheets for your kids, so put an effort into picking the ones that they’ll actually enjoy. If your child is old enough, consider getting them involved so they can choose the sheets featuring their favorite color, characters, and other motifs.

Not only should mattresses be comfortable for your kids, but they should also provide plenty of support so as to prevent strain and injuries. After all, your kids will spend several hours every day sleeping on a mattress, meaning that selecting the right option for your kids is essential. Here are some tips to help you select the right mattresses for your kids.

Consider The Firmness

Your kids’ ages will largely dictate how firm their mattresses should be. For children under three years of age, a medium-firm mattress will be good as they still have soft bones. For kids between three and seven years old, a firm mattress is better as this is a peak growing phase in their lives, so a firmer mattress will be necessary to provide them with plenty of support as they develop. Kids older than seven should revert back to a medium-firm mattress or even a medium mattress if they prefer a softer mattress.

Go For Quality

Ultimately, no matter how good some of the discounts are that you see on different e-commerce sites, it’s crucial to prioritize quality over price. Your childrens’ backs will thank you for it.

Remember The Extras

While picking the right mattress is essential, the extras that go with it will also make a major difference to your kids’ sleep. Make sure to get a mattress protector and remember to rotate and turn your kids’ mattresses so that they retain their shape.

Carving a pumpkin with your kids for Halloween can be a rewarding activity. You will have fun, get some bonding, and have an amazing decoration to display. However, you want to do it in a safe way to avoid any accidents or mishaps. Continue reading to find out the best tips for safe pumpkin carving with your kids.

Don’t Remove the Top of the Pumpkin

Standard carving rules call for removing the top of the pumpkin to begin with. When carving alongside kids, it is best to leave it on and remove it after you’ve finished everything else. The stem will allow for better maneuvering while curious kids can’t get their hands into the pumpkin in the middle of carving.

Use the Pumpkin Carving Kit

The pumpkin carving kit contains all the tools that you might need. But more importantly, these tools are serrated and dull, allowing for easier carving and minimizing the risk of injuries.

Know When Your Kid is Ready for Carving

The best age to include your kid in actual carving is nine to 12 years old, according to experts. If you have a younger kid, you should keep the tools away from them and instead include them in drawing the shape of the pumpkin.

Doing laundry is one of the most tedious household chores, and you’ll be dealing with it non-stop after having a home full of children. That’s why it’s important to teach them how to deal with their own laundry as early as possible, and our brief guide will help you do this with ease.

Dirty vs. Clean

You should encourage your kids pretty early on to throw their dirty clothes in the basket right away. By doing so, they’ll have an easier time finding clean clothes to wear in their closet and avoid making a mess inside.

Individual Baskets

Your child should have an individual laundry basket that they’re responsible for. This fosters a sense of independence and responsibility, in addition to making it easier to sort clothes once they’ve been washed.

Teach Them the Basics

It will take some time before your kids can do the full laundry process on their own, but you can teach them the basics once they’re old enough. Show them how to separate dark clothes from delicate light pieces, and teach them how to set the washing/drying machine correctly and which detergent to use.

Make Folding Fun

Folding laundry usually takes even more time than actually washing it, and most kids struggle with it even more. Teach them the basics once they’re old enough, and turn folding into a fun game from the get-go so they would associate this chore with something positive.

Fall is yet to officially arrive, but we’re already seeing Halloween and Christmas decorations at pretty much every home goods store. They’re a perfect reminder that it’s never too early to start planning your festive DIY projects, and here are five benefits of getting an early start.

Perfect Timing

The earlier you start working on your DIY projects, the more time you’ll have to finish them up, and you won’t have to deal with the pressure of rushing things last minute.

Stress-Free Fun

DIY projects are usually fun, but they can turn into a nightmare when you’re short on time. Getting an early start will remove the stress and allow you to enjoy the holiday seasons to the fullest.

Buying Supplies

If you start working on your holiday decorations earlier rather than later, you’ll have more time to explore the stores and buy the best possible supplies before they’ve been sold out.

Budget-Friendly

In addition to finding a bigger selection of supplies you can use in your DIY projects, you’ll also have a wider selection of budget-friendly options that usually sell out first.

Creative Boost

Not racing against time will also inspire you to get more creative, because you’ll have more time to experiment, make mistakes, and start again.
