]]>There’s nothing wrong about dressing your kids in short sleeves this summer, but keep in mind this shouldn’t be their only layer. Babies are not so great at maintaining body temperature, so it’s sometimes a good idea to dress them in an extra layer to make sure they’re warm enough.
Wearing short sleeves is all fun and games if your baby is not exposed to direct sunlight. They’ll help your baby combat hot summer days, but you should probably put something with long sleeves on if you can’t keep your toddler out of the sun.
Wearing short sleeves in direct sunlight may not feel like a big deal if your toddler is wearing sunscreen, but this isn’t always the best idea. Newborns have very sensitive skin, and sunscreen is best avoided until they’re at least six months old. Once they reach that age, look for baby-safe sunscreen with an SPF of 30 to 50 and consider talking to your pediatrician before using it.
