]]>As fun as roller coasters are, they can also be risky and dangerous, which is why you shouldn’t allow them to ride one before the age of five or six. However, even six is way too young for the faster and more robust roller coasters. We’d recommend starting them on a safe, non-loop coaster by the time they’re in first grade.
Once they reach the age of 8 or 9, then you can start allowing them to try out some of the faster rides. We’re talking loops, big drops, the whole nine yards. But you should still make sure that they understand the importance of staying safe on these rides. This means actually listening to the sign that reads “place head firmly against the headrest” as well as refraining from putting their arms up during moments that don’t call for it on the ride.
All in all, as long as you ease them into it, they should be fine. But 6 and 8 are the rough age thresholds that they should be ready, respectively.
