]]>Dalglish always dreamed of being a mom and started trying for a baby at 28, while living in Cyprus with her husband. Even though their tests showed no complications, she was diagnosed with “unexplained infertility” after moving to Scotland, and this marked the beginning of her long journey to give birth.
After going through a first round of IVF for free, Dalglish had to privately fund the feature fertility treatments, spending over $120,000 in the years to come. This process took an emotional, physical, and financial toll on her, but she wasn’t giving up.
“Every one that fails you’re absolutely devastated. It’s like a death. I would get down for a couple of weeks but then I would pick myself up and say, ‘Right, if you want this baby, get your act together’’ I tried to forget about the failed ones as if I’d started from fresh,” she told The Daily Record.
Dalglish’s prayers were finally answered last September when she gave birth to her daughter Daisy Grace. She described her as “a little darling and worth waiting another 25 years for”, and she’s hoping her story will inspire other women struggling with IVF to keep going.
