Many new parents can be quite flustered in the first few weeks of the experience. They find themselves walking through a tunnel of sleepless nights, short naps, and feedings followed by feedings at uncertain times. Everything seems confusing and difficult and it seems impossible to get their baby to relax. If this sounds like you, here’s a tip that’ll get things rolling.

A Schedule is the Key

You need to realize that you’re the boss of your child and not the other way around. The reason your life feels like such a mess is that you’re caught in that struggle. Every time your baby cries, you immediately cater to their whim. What you need to be doing is training your baby to the schedule that you create for them.

For instance, you can make it so they have a bath every night at 6:00, feeding every night at 6:30, followed by bedtime at 7:00. This is just an example, but you get the idea. Your baby may not comply right away, but eventually, they’ll fall into the pattern and it’ll be easier for them to do all their basic everyday activities.

The kicker here is that your baby actually wants there to be a schedule. They’re not crying for the sole purpose of making your life miserable. They’re a heck of a lot more lost than you are, and they need you to be the leader. So maybe it’s time for you to step up and become the leader (and parent) you were always meant to be.
